Metaphysics 101: An Overview Introduction:  POPULAR METAPHYSICS  Popular metaphysics relates primarily to two areas (1) mysticism, referring to experiences of unity with the ultimate, commonly interpreted as God, The Universe, The All there is, etc. and (2) Psychic Phenomena referring to the extension of knowing (extrasensory perception, including telepathy, clairvoyance, precognition, retrocognition,  channeling, mediumship, etc. ) and doing (psychokinesis) beyond the usually recognized fields of human activity. The academic study of psychic phenomena has been known as psychical research and, more recently, parapsychology. No matter how you view it though, the field of metaphysics is supposed to answer the question:  "What is the nature of reality?" The New Age Movement The so called "New Age" movement born in the 1960's has popularized, and brought into the vocabulary of most modern people, many metaphysical terms and concepts.  The upside is that people have been exposed to new ways of thinking, to expand, grow and heal.  The downside is that some "Newagers," in borrowing these concepts and terms have "adapted" them to their personal unique world view. The result is that many times you hear metaphysical terms that often have completely contradictory & confusing meanings when used by different people.  In this 3 hour workshop, presenters, Rev.
